Today we are joined by Service Technician Matt Smith, one of Fast’s longest tenured employees with over 20 years of experience on our team.
What is your favorite part about your job and why?
“My favorite part of the job is the flexibility, and the harder I work the more money I make. I also enjoy the interaction with customers and the fact there’s something new every day. It’s not like being on a construction site where it’s the same task or project every day.”
Is there anything people don’t understand about your job that you wish they did?
“It’s a lot more than turning wrenches.”
What unique skill or expertise do you bring to the table that benefits the team?
“My prior military service and the 16 years I was in commercial pipe fitting. I’m much more apt to taking on bigger tasks, like when we started doing tankless, I was the first one to start putting them in.”
If you could swap jobs with anyone at Fast Home Services for a day, who would it be?
“The HVAC Technicians. I am interested in how the whole heat pump aspect works and technicality of the trade. It’s another trade where it’s much more than bending tin.”
What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
“Hanging out with my wife, eating new food, going for drives. Usually, in the summertime we try to walk all the parks in a certain area and then go eat in the neighborhood. To get out of the house we like driving around and looking at houses in the Seattle area, Beacon Hill, Magnolia, Upper Lake Washington, and Ballard.”
